3D4KIDS project: In Palermo to discuss about the produced outputs and further steps

On the 2nd and 3rd of October the 3rd transnational meeting of the 3D4KIDS project took place in Palermo.

The project aims at promoting the use of 3D printers in secondary schools. It is funded by the European Commission within the Erasmus+ program, Key Action 2 (Strategic Partnership for innovation and the Exchange of good practices).

The project activities are carried out by the following organizations: Furness Academy (United Kingdom), IES José Luis Castillo-Puche (Spain), Srednja šola za oblikovanje Maribor (Slovenia), CEIPES (Italy), CETEM (Spain), STYRIAN TECHNOLOGY PARK (Slovenia), Pristálica (Spain).

Thanks to the meeting the partners could discuss about some important points of the project like the following:

  • The methodologies that the partners developed for the creation of 3D printing exercises.
  • The exercises developed in 3D by each partner that will be tested during the pilot phase of the project by the teachers and the students. In this phase the technical partners also gave feedback on the feasibility of the exercises already developed and showed to the partners’ consortium some exercises printed in the 3D.
  • The online platform that will be developed to contain the exercises and to add new ones.
  • The Exploitation and Protection of Results in order to set the guidelines for Creative Common licenses of any of the results (reports, documents, exercises, etc.) produced.
  • The data protection of schools and 3D providers collected for the database aimed at creating a network among stakeholders.
  • The dissemination plan.

The meeting has highlighted a great advancement thanks to the results obtained.

As hosting partner, CEIPES organized local tours like:

  • The Fablab@school in which, beyond the normal activity of Fablab, it was possible to see the new fields of application and the engineering of new technologies and materials for 3D printing.
  • The Eco-fruit company in Bagheria, Palermo where it was possible to see a young Sicilian reality of company growth in biological products.
