Feedback from the Italian 3D4KIDS pilot Phase!
On the 29th October, the Italian pilot phase of the project 3D4KIDS took place in “I.C.S. Monsignor Gagliano”, a secondary school in the province of Palermo and it involved 80 students and 8 teachers from different classes and subjects who had the opportunity to test the new tools and metodologies developed by the consortium partners, during the project.
During the pilot, CEIPES’ 3D experts explained some technical infomation about the use of 3Dprinting and the great potencial of this technology in the teaching and learning system.
In particular, the students and teachers tested the exercises developped, the methodology for pilot and also the platform where all 3D models and exercises are allocated.
They also had the opportunity to experiment in a practical way with the 3D printer, by printing a new small object.
Thanks to teachers and students feedback Ceipes’ project Manager had the confirmation that it is possible to develop new kind of lesson that involved the traditional face-to-face methods and the new didattical tools, in this way the learning activities become even more attractive. On another hand the tactical manipulation of the printed objects was very useful for children who have Specific Learning Disorders.
The students who participated in the pilot phase, were very enthusiastic about the activity carried out recognizing the potential in using this kind of technology during the lesson and they gave to Ceipes these feedback thanks to the Inital and final evaluation questionnaires they filled out.
Now, Ceipes is working on the results of this test to understand in depth the strengths and weaknesses of the project and to improve the tools created.
3D4KIDS project aims at promoting the use of 3D printers in secondary schools. It is a project funded by the European Commission within the Erasmus+ programme, Key Action 2 (Strategic Partnership for innovation and the Exchange of good practices).
The consortium partner that is carrying out the project activities is composed by: Furness Academy (United Kingdom), IES José Luis Castillo-Puche (Spain), Srednja šola za oblikovanje Maribor (Slovenia), CEIPES (Italy), CETEM (Spain), STYRIAN TECHNOLOGY PARK (Slovenia), Pristálica (Spain).
